Ian Brennan: Producer - The Oldest Voice in the World (Azerbaijan)

Ian Brennan has embarked on yet another groundbreaking project with "The Oldest Voice in the World (Azerbaijan)". It's remarkable that he and Marilena Umuhoza Delli were able to document the voices and wisdom of people over 100 years old, especially given the challenges they faced with the COVID-19 pandemic and the remote location of the villages.

Brennan recorded the voices and natural sounds of the environment, using unconventional instruments such as the wood-burning furnace and the farm flour grinder. This approach to recording and production is in line with his previous work, which emphasizes authenticity and uninhibited expression.

Many of the centenarians sang of their mother and the importance of love in their lives. This reinforces the universal human experience of love and connection across cultures and generations. I'm curious to hear the final album and how Brennan incorporates the bonus tracks featuring other artists he's collaborated with over the years.

He joins with Darek Mazzone to chat about this amazing project.
